3. February 22, 2009 - PD Metro Desk Question: What would you do with the $500 million set aside for Medical Mart?

Answer: Medical Mart will help the region, however it is not the answer to the region's financial downfall.

We would build a Young Adult Leadership Apprenticeship Neighborhood - Specific Institute. The Institute would be a collaboration between business owners and CEOs,elected officials and recent high school and college graduates. The Institute would promote careers, early community (re)investment, positive neighborhood-corporate relations.

We would also implement the concept of America's Safety Plan - How to Save Our Urban Cities. This plan would begin to decrease if not eliminate unethical and criminal behaviors which run rampant in our city. Investors as well as all residents must feel mentally and physically safe within all areas of the region, not just the selected few; only then will all involved in this region (near or far) begin to forecast this region as a serious force for Economic Stimulus and Neighborhood Development. Corporations must know that they can nurture and grow their businesses here in our region because of our readily available talent.

Our city's population has been declining since the 60s due to white flight, suburbanization, the hough riot and glenville shooting. Our school system appears to be less than sub standard and our young people appear to be mentally drained as they seek opportunities of growth, development, and self sufficiency of which they can only secure through education, on the job training accompanied with community support and direct- neighborhood business/leadership investment
